Workshop 2B: Evidence-based protocols (end of Workshop 2A – 2:00 pm):
Development of an evidence-based protocol to produce a standard and consistent plasma sample

Chairs:
Helen M. Moore, Ph.D. (OBBR, NCI)
L. Mark Cosentino, D.P.M., Ph.D. (SAIC-Frederick)

Objective:
To identify the pre-analytical variables in the collection and processing of blood biospecimens that have the greatest potential for confounding attempts at producing a standard and consistent plasma sample.

Questions to be answered by this workshop:
1. Which pre-analytical variables in the collection, processing, and storage of blood biospecimens, for the production of plasma samples, have the greatest impact in confounding its molecular analysis?
2. What types of experiments are needed to test the impact of a particular pre-analytical variable in the collection, processing, and storage of blood biospecimens for the production of a plasma sample?

Tentative Agenda: (following Workshop 2A - times are approximate)
